This was the fist installation of The Thing Outside. It consited of various interconnected fragments of the work:
- I covered the walls partly with paper and photos and created a sort of working mind-map
- I had two projections of the films and one film on a laptop on the ground.
- I had two large photographic posters: one haning from the ceiling and one rolled as a sculpture (each 150cm x 180cm)
personal notes:
The final set-up of the work had nothing in common with my inital plans as I expected a different room lay-out. There was no space for the photographic prints so I rolled one up and displayed it as a sculpture. Another problem was a large sofa in the space. I decided to cover it with black-out fabric that looked a bit like the fabric of the thing outside in Soiano. On one fo the walls was a large round stainewd glass window which I covered with a large paper roll which created a beautiful round shape that corresponded with the round shapes in the photographs. I wasn't very happy with the set-up but at least I managed to develop the idea a bit further.Besides the installation I also created thee framed collages that tied in with the work.
collages, framed 48cm x 60cm
