Recent paintings from the ongoing Bad Painting series.

Bad Painting is not a visual style but a working logic, a way of letting paint, language, surface, and image fail before they explain themselves. Over time, the paintings have shifted from illustration (up to Bad Painting 420) towards residue, erosion, and refusal of clarity.

Across recent works, painting behaves less as representation and more as system: language dissolves into residue, statements become ghosts, text survives only as trace, and bodies emerge only to disappear again. Objects like masks or provisional installations are not departures but continuations of the same logic, each work resists closure, refuses legibility, and foregrounds the pressure of making over the comfort of meaning.

What links these works is not subject matter but the structure of refusal: the insistence that a painting can fail, that language can be worn down, and that presence does not need to become a recognisable image. In this field, ambiguity is material, uncertainty is form, and the act of suspension is the work.
