Really Good Artists

Really Good Artists is an ongoing series of digital text works by Jay Rechsteiner.

The posts use short, direct statements to question the behaviour, vanity, fear, compromise and social performance surrounding art and artists. They are not advice. They are not motivational slogans. They are small acts of pressure.

The series borrows the language of online self-presentation, but turns it against itself. Each statement appears simple, almost throwaway, yet the repetition builds a sharper structure: what artists say, what artists do, what artists tolerate, and what artists pretend not to see.

Made for social media, the works also function as a public notebook. They sit between statement, accusation, joke, confession and refusal.
