Jay Gun - the most dangerous man on the planet - proudly presents his collection of self-made guns and other gun-related stuff.
Guns have always had a great fascination, especially for boys. They equip you with the power that enables you to manifest your manliness, transforming you into a hero, a cowboy, into the saviour of the world! As we grow up the guns become real, heavier and turn into real tools to kill.
Kids play with guns just as adults do. The only difference is that children pretend to draw blood and adults draw blood. A child's mind is capable of imagining various fictions guns, crazy, fascinating and creative constructions, creating fictional stories and role plays. Adults develop those ideas into crueland deadly tools. It is astounding that we still are at war with one another, that we still draw blood simply because of different opinions regarding political & cultural differences or of greed and selfishness. Jay Gun's collection represents the childishness of war, of guns, of tools to kill.
The crudely drawn guns – a mixture between perspective and two-dimensional drawing – represent the childish state of mind of using guns in a so-called evolved society in which we praise ourselves with a high standard of moral and humane values. Jay Gun is the epitome of a soldier, of a government that uses the military to invade (or protect) a country, a police force to crack down on crime, a gangster robbing someone. He is a gun-loving hero that has not lost his fascination for guns. However, would you take this guy serious?
Not that JAY GUN is not about guns but about a man-boy who is fascinated by guns. JAY GUN is a small part of John Wayne is Gay which investitigates American Identity.
The exhibition featured a 5 meter x 3 meter pencil drawing of guns and machines, pencil drawings, paintings, a video, a collection of hand-made guns and a shooting range where people were welcome to shoot Jay Gun!
